Our company

EBP European Biopower is a project development company with a focus on renewable energy projects in Central Europe. EBP possesses significant experience in project development and management, financing and consulting in the areas of biofuels, biomass power, waste neutralization, wind power and geothermal energy.

The company is located in Budapest, Hungary. Its main focus is on the markets of Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria and Croatia. The company has developped ethanol facilities with attached biomass energy centers for Sekab Bioenergy Hungary Ltd. Currently the company is working on several independent, regional biomass power plants.

EBP is intending to develop its activities further as an EPC Main Contractor in the renewable energy sector while continuing its project development activities

EBP’s biggest project is called Enviroparks which is an essential investment for Hungary, since the country can become one of the leading players concerning bio-fuel production.

Clients:

The EnviroParks is a multi-stage, multi-installation bio-fuel production and bio-mass (waste-to-energy) power plant project. Permitting process has been completed at two locations and the project is scheduled to be ready for commercial operation in 2010 - 2011. Majority owner of the project is Sekab Bioenergy Hungary Ltd., which is owned by Sekab Sweden. The planned two plants at different locations will provide a timely solution to the growing need for renewable energy, ethanol and animal feed. The overall production of ethanol and DDGS (by-product of ethanol) will be a substantial volume on the European market, providing significant strength for the project owners.

Each of the planned Enviroparks plants will have 40 MGY, or 150 million liters capacity and utilizing grain, providing a well-secured utilization of a significant output of the Hungarian agricultural sector. As the plant will process several waste and bio-mass input streams to produce these products, it will be very competitive on the long term as a result of the energy costs and it adds to the green image of the project. All four sites are in the centre of corn growing areas and connected to rail and highway access. Two of the sites also have river access.

Main activities

Why do we believe in renewable energy technologies?

The 21st century provides and presents many critical challenges such as the environment. People are largely dependent on energy and power. As the standard of living continues to improve, there is a growing concern of a possible future shortage of energy. There is also a need for cleaner environment, including air, water and fuels. People need alternative energy sources, which are renewable and cleaner than traditional sources, fuels. The future of supporting energy does not only raise the issue of decreasing import dependency, but it is also a significant factor of the European aims of growing, creating workplaces and sustainability.

Mission statement

Our goal is to be the leading player in the field of bio-ethanol, biomass power generation and other renewable energy technologies based on combustion. Our aim is to promote sustainable development and bring the region to the forefront of renewable energy in Europe.
